Welcome

Hi there!

My name is Carla, im 27 and live in Adelaide. I am also a Registered Nurse and now, student midwife!

As of this week, I commenced my first week at uni to study the Bachelor of Midwifery part time over three years.

Now, what is this blog all about you ask?

Well, I really thought about having some form of documentation over the next three years to watch my knowledge and skill grow, talk about my experiences and share them with others. Id love to look back at this at the end of the three years and see where it all began.

I guess for me, this will be a way of documenting my journey and really being able to reflect on my learning. I am required to follow through 20 women from ante-natal stage through to their post-natal stage, being a part of their birth and supporting them along the way of their pregnancy. I am also required to birth 40 babies under the supervision of a registered midwife.

Soooo....all I really have to say is that I have a challenging three years ahead of me!

Once completed, this will be my third degree (sheesh!). I studied my nursing first, followed by a paramedic degree. But you know what, I actually enjoy studying and learning and I dont think there is a such thing as too much study. Ive always been interested in studying midwifery, in fact I was going to apply to do it straight after nursing! I love babies and I love interacting with pregnant women. Yes, I am clucky... but I know my time will come one day! ;)

This blog is still under construction and not quite complete yet so be sure to check back next time where ill hopefully have gotten into the swing of things.

Until next time...

Carla x
